A proper Brummie collaboration: colour meets craft beer

Two proud Birmingham brands have come together to celebrate the city in a way that’s never quite been done before… and yes, it tastes as good as it looks.

The Colour Palette Company and Birmingham Brewing Company have unveiled a limited-edition range of craft beers inspired by the iconic colours of Birmingham, and you can try them for yourself on a specially curated trail of seven venues across the city, all pouring the beers on draft in time for May Bank Holiday Weekend.

It’s a collaboration that brings together the creativity of Birmingham designer and writer Stacey Barnfield with the brewing expertise of one of the city’s best-loved independent breweries. In short: colour meets craft, Brum-style.

The exclusive range features six distinctive brews, each inspired by a shade from The Birmingham Colour Palette:

Old Bus Cream – a 0.5% refresher

Mr Egg Yellow – a nostalgic pale ale

Jewellery Quarter Gold – your classic pilsner lager

Tikka Masala Red – a refreshing IPA

The Bull Bronze – our Brummie bitter

Sabbath Black – a dark, deep (did we say dark?) stout!

This collaboration builds on the growing success of The Colour Palette Company, whose bold, colour-led installations have been popping up everywhere from Grand Central to Custard Factory, as well as shopping centres and rail stations across the UK. (Plus, if you’re into your colour, there’s a whole range of gifts online too.)

“We hope you love our new Brummie collaboration,” says Stacey Barnfield. “Together we’ve created a limited range of beers inspired by the iconic colours of Birmingham. Let’s take a moment to raise a glass to the city that inspired it. Cheers, Brum!”

Charlotte Anson of Birmingham Brewing Company adds: “Birmingham is a city full of character, creativity and proper stories and that’s exactly what we try to capture in our beers. Working with Stacey and The Colour Palette Company felt like a perfect match. Each brew has its own personality, its own colour, its own little nod to Brum, and we can’t wait for people to get out there and try them.”

Where to find the beers
