In today’s concert, Birmingham City Organist Thomas Trotter celebrates the life and work of William Thomas Best who was born 200 years ago. Liverpool City Organist from 1855-1894, Best was widely considered to be the greatest organist of the Victorian Age and his own spectacular arrangements of orchestral music added a new genre to the concert organist’s repertoire. Best was in demand across the world, inaugurating organs including that of the Royal Albert Hall.
