Birmingham Colmore is the cultural, commercial and civic heart of Birmingham – a vibrant district driving footfall, economic growth and quality of life for everyone who invests, works and visits here.
Centrally located and well connected, Colmore is home to over 650 companies and 75,000 professionals as the hub of the West Midlands’ business, professional and financial services cluster. Our distinctive mix of heritage architecture, productive workspaces, world class hospitality, independent retailers and enriching cultural venues creates an environment where communities connect and enterprise flourishes.
Since 2009, we’ve championed Colmore at the heart of our city rich in diversity and talent as a leading Business Improvement District (BID).
Birmingham Colmore curates Colmore Life, delivering transformational public realm improvements, hosting major events and festivals and connecting businesses across the city with civic institutions. We advocate for continued investment and promote Birmingham’s interests on behalf of levy-paying businesses with local, regional and national government.
We’re building a more vibrant, sustainable and prosperous future for Birmingham’s centre stage.
We exist to make Colmore Business District a place where people and businesses thrive. Guided by our core drivers, footfall, economic growth, and quality of life, we create opportunities that energise the District and strengthen its future.
Our personality is at the heart of everything we do: reliable, driven, and full of heart, ensuring we deliver with integrity and passion.
As we evolve from a project management organisation into a true placemaking champion, our vision is clear: to shape a vibrant, connected and sustainable destination for everyone who lives, works, and visits.
Birmingham Colmore is currently delivering its BID4 Business Plan (2024–2029) following a successful ballot in 2023.
The Business Plan was shaped by extensive consultation with over 2,000 local stakeholders, more than 60 meetings, and seven District-wide events.
With £1.4m annual investment from local businesses, our BID4 Business Plan focuses on creating outstanding places, improving accessibility and sustainability, and delivering engaging creative and cultural activities.
It also champions increased footfall, enhanced safety and security, the growth of our business community, development opportunities for young professionals, and stronger collaboration and leadership across the District.

Tariq Shaikh, Gensler’s Birmingham Office Lead
The BID has provided numerous benefits for us, particularly introducing networking opportunities between Gensler and other businesses within the District that we could work with. The BID offers an enriched business community by hosting networking events and developing sociable surrounding areas, which allows organisations like ourselves to build rapport with our neighbours effectively.
