Whether you are a seasoned board director, or you have never been on a board before, we want to hear from you if you think you can bring your skills to play an active role in shaping our District.
We are currently seeking Directors with a broad range of skills and experience. Whilst we are keen to hear from people with experience in finance, EDI, hospitality and the built environment, applications from any industry are welcomed.
Birmingham Colmore is a professional services Business Improvement District (established in 2009) covering a specific geography in the city core. You can view a map on page 32 of our current business plan (https://issuu.com/colmore-life/docs/colmore_bid_bid4_business_plan_june_2023_digital)
Since its inception, Birmingham Colmore has carried out many successful projects, including:
- Award winning public realm schemes on Church Street and Colmore Square and, more recently, schemes on Cornwall Street and Colmore Row
- An award winning food festival, now in its 12th year, attracting over 60,000 people from in and around the city, and Birmingham Light Festival, a recent hero event for Birmingham City Centre
- Trusted Community Support services patrolling and responding to a broad range of issues throughout the District
- Floral features, festive lights, deep cleaning and city dressing throughout the year
- A broad range of cultural and artistic events
We are recognised as one of the leading BIDs in the country. As a result of this reputation, we have also entered a partnership to deliver all services for Southside Business District, one of our fellow city centre BIDs.
We are recruiting for new voluntary Board Directors who can take the strategic lead on a variety of aspects of the BID. If you work for a Birmingham Colmore levy paying business and are looking to influence and impact activities outside of your day job, this is the challenge for you.
Birmingham Colmore is keen for its board to reflect the city’s diversity and seeks applications irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, faith or disability. If you are interested, please email Jonathan.bryce@birminghamcolmore.co.uk before 2 October 2026.
You will need to complete a short expression of interest form before receiving the recruitment pack. The closing date for you to return the application pack is 23 October 2026. Interviews will be held on 6 November 2026.
Please note, you must work for, and be based at an organisation that pays a levy to Birmingham Colmore in order to be eligible to apply.
