As we mark a year of exciting progress during our fourth term, BID4, its important Colmore BID reviews and where necessary, revises the services and support we provide BID members.
In light of this, we have refreshed and rebranded the Colmore Building & Facilities Managers Networking Forum into the Colmore Protect & Prepare Forum (CPPF). The CPPF is a key strand of Colmore BID’s Safe & Sound thematic workstream.
The decision to launch the CPPF is primarily to support Colmore BID businesses that will come into the scope of Martyn’s Law, which could be enacted as early as Spring 2025. For the first time, there will be a legal requirement for qualifying businesses to consider the protective security of premises and public protection of people against the threats and risks of terrorist attack.
In general, the legislation will bring into scope premises and events that are used for ‘qualifying activities’ such as retail, leisure & hospitality, sports, conferences, education, health and places of worship that reasonably expect 200+ attendees at any one time. To that end, many more businesses will now need to implement reasonably practicable measures for protecting and preparing against terrorism attack, emergency planning and crisis response, and business continuity.
The CPPF aims to meet quarterly to focus on the topics YOU wish to discuss and learn more about on any aspect of protective security, public protection, crisis response and business continuity. We hope the CPPF will help businesses or individuals designated with the duty of ‘responsible person’ (organisation or person who has control of a qualifying premises or event) to comply with their regulatory requirements.
