Birmingham Colmore sits within the Ladywood Ward, an area facing significant social and economic challenges. As part of our commitment to the wider community, we work closely with local partners to support families, children and individuals across the Ladywood community.
This work is led through our Community Building Working Group and is rooted in a simple aim: to offer practical, compassionate support where it is most needed, while strengthening connections between businesses and the local community.
Working in Partnership
We have built long-standing relationships with trusted organisations in Ladywood, working together to respond to need throughout the year.
Ladywood Community Project
The Ladywood Community Project has supported local families for over three decades, focusing on households experiencing low income, financial hardship or isolation. Their work includes crisis support, food provision, family activities and help with everyday essentials.
Together, we support a range of initiatives that respond to seasonal pressures on families, including:
- Holiday hunger support during school breaks
- Easter and Christmas donation drives. In Christmas 2025, we supported 23 adults and children with a Breakfast with Santa at Dishoom. Santa gave out gifts to the children and £50.00 supermarkets to the parent/carers. Our businesses also supported with Christmas present donations that were presented to the children on the day.
- Family-focused community events
- Support with essential items for children
Businesses can support this work through donations, sponsorship or by signposting funding or grant opportunities that Birmingham Colmore may be able to explore on behalf of community partners.
St John’s & St Peter’s C of E School, Ladywood
We also work closely with St John’s & St Peter’s C of E School to support pupils and families, particularly around the cost pressures associated with education.
Our joint projects have included:
- School uniform donations (new and pre-loved)
- Winter coat and essentials collections
- Community events bringing families together around food, activities and connection
These initiatives help reduce financial strain on families while ensuring children feel confident, included and ready to learn.
How Businesses Can Get Involved
Birmingham Colmore businesses play a vital role in supporting the Ladywood community. There are many ways to help, including:
- Donating items such as uniforms, coats, toys or food
- Making financial contributions, large or small
- Sponsoring a specific initiative or family-focused activity
- Sharing information about funding or grant opportunities
Every contribution helps, and all support is delivered with dignity, care and respect.
