The hidden talents of people recovering from the effects of homelessness will be on display at the Midlands Art Centre this July. In a first-time ever event, clients from SIFA Fireside will take to the stage to show off the creative talents that they have been honing through sessions with the Geese Theatre Company and Nordoff and Robbins, the music therapy charity.
Ranging from spoken-word testimonials from SIFA staff with lived experience, powerful, to issue-based performances that amplify voices too often ignored, and rousing musical renditions of both original and well-known songs, the afternoon is set to be an uplifting insight into how creativity has no limits.
The event takes place on Saturday July 19 between 2pm and 4pm. The space has been kindly donated by the team at the Midlands Arts Centre, Cannon Hill Park, who have previously hosted activities for people experiencing homelessness, including a behind-the-scenes tour and an interactive arts workshop.
Geese Theatre Company’s ongoing work with SIFA Fireside clients has included live performances at the Crescent Theatre and SIFA’s Support Centre, as well as the screening of two original films at The Mockingbird Cinema. Andy from Nordoff and Robbins has been working with SIFA Fireside clients on weekly musical performances as well as events at the Support Centre and Open Mic Nights at Muther’s Studio.

Tickets cost £5 each, with the proceeds going to SIFA Fireside to enable the continued support of people experiencing homelessness in Birmingham.
