Colmore BID is proud to be part of the first inner-city cigarette waste recycling programme in the UK. 21 purpose-made ashtrays have been installed in and around the Colmore Business District.
They will support smokers to make the responsible choice to bin their butts for recycling with. The cigarette waste collected in the ashtrays, which will be emptied by Birmingham City’s street cleaning crews, will be turned into something useful. TerraCycle works with several partners to turn the cigarette waste into new products such as planters, benches, picnic tables and other outdoor furniture.”
