Workman LLP and Sandell Group inside the new office at 19 Cornwall Street in Birmingham

Workman LLP opens new Birmingham office fitted out by Sandell Group

Leading commercial property management firm Workman LLP has relocated its Birmingham team within the city to help grow the team further after a high-spec fit-out.

The team has moved to 4,500 sq. ft of newly fitted space at 19 Cornwall Street, situated in the heart of Birmingham’s Colmore Business District.

The fit-out was delivered by interior specialists Sandell Group, which completed the high-spec Cat B brief in just eight weeks.

The building sets a high bar for sustainability: 19 Cornwall Street is net zero carbon in operation, with 4,000 sq. ft of solar panels, smart building technology – and lower service charges as a result.

It holds a NABERS target rating of 5 stars – a measure that tracks actual energy performance rather than predicted consumption – with energy use expected to run 65% lower than a typical office block.

The fit-out was led in-house by Workman Partners Paul Stanley and Tom Bates, with Sandell Group handling drawings and construction. A Workman staff survey, which returned an almost 80% response rate, directly shaped the design.

This led to the construction of a bright, open main area with greenery throughout, curved large screens at every desk, eight sit/stand positions, two fully AV-equipped meeting rooms, focus rooms, a breakout kitchen, a lounge, and a dedicated wellbeing room. The palette is earthy and natural, with prominent Workman branding throughout.

The new space gives Workman’s 40-strong Birmingham team room to breathe and grow.

Paul Stanley, Partner at Workman LLP, said: “It was a real opportunity to take a space from scratch and design it around the needs of the business. We wanted somewhere people can collaborate, focus, and feel part of a growing team – a space that genuinely works for the way we work.

“All of that, combined with the green performance of 19 Cornwall Street, makes it the perfect base from which to grow our Birmingham team. We’re really looking forward to our new chapter in the second city.”

Nissar Khan, Head of Business Development at Sandell Group, said: “High-spec Cat B fit-outs are our speciality, and we knew Workman had high expectations given the sector they work in.

“By working carefully alongside Workman throughout the design process, we were able to come up with a final blueprint that fulfilled their vision on time and to an excellent standard.”
