District Donates over 2000 meals

Businesses based in Colmore Business District have donated over 830 kg of food, almost 2000 meals, to the B30 Foodbank.

The Foodbank, which is a voluntary organisation supported by the Trussell Trust, has seen a 26% increase in use over the last year, making 2019 its busiest year.   In fact, the need has been so great, the Foodbank has moved to new premises which are almost twice the size of their original warehouse.

A Spokesperson for the B30 Foodbank said “This year, there have been many weeks when we were giving out more food that we were taking in.  In the week before Christmas alone, we gave out 4381 kg of food to feed 546 people, 296 of which were children.  The donations we receive make a significant difference to individuals and families who would otherwise go hungry”.
