- Brummies invited to share their funniest morning-after moments in the lead up to Halloween
- Funniest entry wins a huge Society feast for the winner and their mates
- Halloween cocktail special ‘Vampire Weekend’ and Neon Raptor beer takeover also available this spooky season
Forget ghosts and ghouls this spooky season, Society Birmingham is taking on something far more frightening: the Sunday morning fear of checking last night’s sent messages.
The city centre foodhall is calling on the good people of Birmingham to share their funniest, most relatable ‘Sunday Scaries’ stories throughout October, with a huge Society feast up for grabs for whoever delivers the biggest laugh.
From an accidental drunk text to a questionable purchase or a sudden flashback to an embarrassing conversation at the bar, Society wants to hear the moments that had people hiding under the duvet. Whether it’s an ill-advised message to an ex or an unexpected parcel arriving a few days later, that morning-after embarrassment could finally pay off.
The best entries will be shared across Society’s social channels throughout the lead up to 31st October, giving Brummies a chance to laugh at the things that seemed like a brilliant idea the night before. The funniest story will win a feast for the entrant and their mates, with food from Society’s five independent street food kitchens and pints from Birmingham’s biggest beer collection.
Society is also sinking its fangs even more into spooky season with their ‘Vampire Weekend’ cocktail special, combining crème de cassis, Licor 43, lemon juice and bitters for a drink with plenty of bite.
From 28th October, a tap takeover from brewery Neon Raptor will bring seven limited edition beers to the bar, including Slushasaurus mango and passionfruit sour, and Vampyre Disco, an imperial sour inspired by peanut butter and jelly. The line-up also features Cappyness Clusters chocolate churro stout, alongside collaborations with Uchu, Sudden Death and Põhjala, spanning a double dry-hopped pale, a New England IPA and a honey chai latte imperial stout.
Oliver Smith, Operations Director at Society Birmingham, said:
“We’ve all had that Sunday moment when a memory from the night before comes creeping back – usually just as we thought we’d got away with it. This Halloween, we want to hear the stories that still cause a cringe but have become firm favourites in the group chat. We’ll reward the funniest with a feast for the winner and their mates. At least something good can come out of that text that really shouldn’t have been sent!”
