CBSO IN THE CITY RETURNS, TAKING THE ORCHESTRA OUT OF THE CONCERT HALL AND INTO BIRMINGHAM’S TRAMS, SHOPPING CENTRES, STATION AND PUBLIC SPACES From Thursday 27 to Monday 31 August, CBSO in the City returns for its third year, with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra’s (CBSO) musicians performing for free to tens of thousands of residents across Birmingham.   Event Schedule at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery:  Pre-Raphaelites Galleries – String Trio 11:00 – 11:30  12:00 – 12:30  History and music come together in a unique cultural experience. Discover the Pre-Raphaelites exhibition at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery whilst musicians from the CBSO perform a selection of works for string trio – it’s the perfect accompaniment to your experience. Joe Lycett EVERY THING MUST GO – String Quartet & Keyboard 14:00 – 14:30  15:00 – 15:30  CBSO string players present a marvellous afternoon of live music at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery. Following this performance, why not take the opportunity to explore Joe Lycett’s EVERY THING MUST GO exhibition. Opening on 29 July 2026, the exhibition is Lycett’s first major solo art exhibition, and features a selection of works that celebrate nostalgia, grief and loss.
