Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to announce the promotion of two senior lawyers to the Birmingham partnership. Kate Bailey (Pensions) and Nicola Smith (Environmental, Safety and Health), both of whom trained and qualified with the firm, comprise this year’s Birmingham cohort of newly promoted partners. They are part of a global promotional round in which a total of 26 lawyers have been made partners within the firm.
Kate Bailey is a specialist pensions lawyer with a wealth of experience advising trustees and corporates on all aspects of occupational pension plan management, including legislative compliance, benefit change projects, liability management projects, mergers and buy-in/outs. Kate has a particular focus on governance and risk management. A finalist at the Professional Pensions Women in Pensions Awards last year, Kate has also been a finalist at Birmingham Young Professional of the Year, Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards and the Chamber of Commerce Awards. She is a trustee of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity and a Director of the Colmore Business Improvement District.
Nicola Smith specialises in regulatory compliance. Her expertise is broad ranging and covers alcohol and entertainment licensing, food and feed law, and general product compliance, safety and recall. Nicola also specialises in road vehicle and driver laws, including public inquiries before traffic commissioners. She regularly speaks and trains clients on food and product law requirements, including in relation to allergen laws and the impact of Brexit on labelling requirements.
