Sir Albert Bore is the Labour Member for Ladywood Ward, which includes Colmore Business District. A nuclear physicist by training, he holds a doctorate in nuclear reactor physics from the University of Birmingham and lectured in nuclear physics at Aston University from 1974 to 1999. Bore has served on Birmingham City Council since 1980, leading the Labour group between 1999 and 2015 and serving twice as Leader of the Council. He is currently Chair of the Co-ordinating Overview & Scrutiny Committee and a non-executive director for a number of organisations including Birmingham Symphony Hall, Marketing Birmingham, the NEC, Birmingham Colmore, and Birmingham Technology Ltd.
