UGC appoints Savills UK as Commercial Property Consultants

The Urban Growth Company has appointed Savills UK to act as commercial property consultants for infrastructure investment and growth projects across The UK Central Hub in Solihull.

Savills will provide continuing support for the UGC in advancing the commercial development opportunities that underpin the economic growth opportunity across The Hub, the 1,300-hectare area of land in Solihull which comprises Birmingham Airport, the NEC, Jaguar Land Rover, Birmingham Business Park and Arden Cross, the development site which will be home to the HS2 Interchange Station.

Nigel Hudson, Strategy and Planning Director at the UGC said, “As well as setting the strategic direction on how we will make The Hub a world-renowned destination, we are also now starting to deliver the projects that will make this a reality. The Hub is an opportunity unlike any other in the UK, and possibly Europe, in terms of the connectivity, scale and possibilities brought about by the partners we already have here.

“The appointment of Savills will help enable us to deliver the transformational growth we envisage at The Hub.  They will be another important partner, helping us to utilise local expertise and knowledge to underpin the public sector investment decisions and commercial environment that creates the market confidence and supports private sector investment critical to facilitating growth in both homes and jobs across the UKC Hub.”

Andrew Galloway, director and joint head of the development team at Savills in Birmingham, says: “We are incredibly proud to be working with UGC on such an exciting project as The Hub. We firmly believe that our unique, mixed-use development and planning capabilities and local knowledge will offer strategic solutions that will complement UGC’s vision for The Hub. Over the past 5 years, the region’s £100bn economy has grown by over 20%. HS2 presents an unprecedented opportunity to establish the West Midlands as a world-class business location and in order to create this destination, there is a need to provide considerable new commercial, industrial and residential space to meet its ambitions.”
