Birmingham Universities Offer Free Business Support Webinars to Help Employers Access Funding

Four of Birmingham’s leading universities have joined forces to help reshape the future of graduate recruitment across the city, while also offering valuable support to local businesses.

University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, Aston University and University College Birmingham are collaborating on a project designed to support graduates in securing skilled roles, while helping businesses access resources, funding and expertise.

As part of this initiative, the University of Birmingham is encouraging businesses across Birmingham to take part in a series of free webinars this March. The sessions will focus on practical ways organisations can access funding and support that can help them recruit and develop graduate talent.

Free webinars for Birmingham businesses

The webinar series will cover key areas including apprenticeship funding, university partnerships and bid writing skills:

This session will explore how businesses can utilise gifted apprenticeship levy funding to invest in staff training without increasing their training budgets.
  • 18 March – Access recruitment, enterprise and innovation support from universities across Birmingham
Businesses will learn about the range of recruitment, enterprise and innovation support available through the city’s universities and how to access it.
  • 24 March – Practical tips and advice on bid writing: write persuasive and high-scoring tenders
This webinar will provide practical guidance on writing stronger bids and tenders, helping businesses improve their chances of securing funding and contracts.

Supporting graduate recruitment in Birmingham

The webinars form part of a wider project designed to strengthen the link between graduates and employers in Birmingham. By working together, the four universities aim to ensure graduates are well prepared for the workforce while also helping businesses find the skilled talent they need.

To access the free sessions, businesses simply need to complete a short survey here outlining what they are looking for when recruiting graduates. The responses will help inform how the universities support students and graduates as they prepare to enter the workforce.

The insights gathered will also help ensure that future initiatives continue to meet the needs of employers across Birmingham’s business community.
