Law firm raises almost £6,000 for Birmingham charity

A Birmingham law firm has donated £5,948 to Birmingham children’s charity, The Buddy Bag Foundation.

Staff from Colmore Business District-based mfg Solicitors donated the four-figure sum, which included a donation of £1,000 from the Trustees of the mfg Charitable Foundation, to the Sutton Coldfield-founded charity after holding a variety of events over the past year. This included a showpiece quiz evening and fundraising through a pumpkin carving competition, raffles, baking and snack box sales, alongside members of the team taking part in the Drayton Manor charity run.

The firm’s Knit and Natter Group also hand-knitted a collection of teddy bears for the charity, which supports hundreds of children in and around Birmingham every year – providing them with everyday essentials such as toiletries, pyjamas, socks and underwear.

Chris Piggott, Birmingham office partner, said: “The Buddy Bag Foundation has become a much-loved charity for our Birmingham office and everyone has joined together over the past year to boost our fundraising efforts.

“The volunteering team at the charity do extraordinary and inspiring work every day to support children facing a crisis, so through our events and fundraising we are delighted to be doing our bit to help.”

Karen Williams OBE founded The Buddy Bag Foundation in 2014 in response to the rising number of children who enter emergency care after fleeing violent situations at home. She said: “We are extremely grateful to the CSR team at mfg Solicitors for supporting us with their fundraising over the past 12 months”.

“They really work hard to understand how our volunteers aim to make a difference and to have received nearly £6,000 over the past 12 months from them is amazing. It helps so much in our drive to support as many children in need as we can.”
