Weightmans profits rise to £17m in record year of growth

Weightmans has reported a record year in 2025/26, with revenue increasing by 12 per cent to £162m and net profit rising by 17 per cent to £17m.

The law firm, based at 103 Colmore Row in Colmore Business District, says the results mark a fifth consecutive year of growth.

International revenue also grew strongly, increasing 16 per cent year-on-year, as Weightmans launched its international desks and developed a close working relationship with Irish law firm Whitney Moore.

It was also Sarah Walton’s first year as managing partner, while the appointments of Caroline Johnson as claims director and Duncan Finch as a non-executive director strengthened the board.

The firm promoted two female partners to the equity partnership – Catriona Wolfenden (product and innovation) and Jane Price (client partner, AIG).

Weightmans further expanded its national footprint and service offering by opening a new office in Nottingham.

Market recognition remained strong, with a record 617 lawyers ranked across Legal 500 and Chambers UK, including 22 top-tier practice areas.

During the year, Weightmans welcomed 26 lateral partner hires, which, together with internal promotions, brings the partnership to 265, alongside a new intake of trainees and apprentices.

Sarah Walton (pictured) said: “This has been a landmark year for the firm. Delivering sustained growth in revenue, income and profit in a fast-changing market is a strong endorsement of our strategy and the strength of our client relationships.

“The strong results reflect both the resilience of our core business and the progress we are making in growing higher-value work in areas such as public sector, regulatory, employment and advisory.

“We are seeing momentum in the right parts of the market, supported by long-standing client relationships and a continued focus on delivering quality and value.

“What matters most is how we’ve achieved it – through a clear focus on clients, disciplined execution and continued investment in our people, our capability and our technology. I’m particularly pleased that every colleague will share that success with a £2,500 bonus.

“The legal sector is evolving quickly. Technology, new delivery models, private equity and changing client expectations are reshaping the market. Our priority is to stay ahead of that change – building a stronger, more connected business, grounded in our core legal expertise, and delivering consistently for our clients.”
